As the kids have got older we’ve been able to try more adventurous activities as a family. One of these was a trip to Reading climbing wall, which we decided upon after we saw an offer on Groupon.
A day out in Winchester, Hampshire
We often drive past Winchester when heading to the south coast but I’ve never visited before. Whilst it has quite a few attractions I thought they were probably more suited to older tourists rather than families. I was wrong though, as proved by an enjoyable visit recently.
Snowdrops at Welford Park, Berkshire
I love snowdrops as they’re a sign that spring is nearly here. This weekend we saw oodles of them when we visited Welford Park in Berkshire to see their snowdrop displays.
Warburg Nature Reserve wildlife walk, Oxfordshire
One of our favourite local places to walk is Warburg nature reserve, which is managed by BBOWT (Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wildlife Trust). The reserve is in the Chilterns, and encompasses a mixture of native woodland and chalk grassland.

Bird watching at Otmoor RSPB reserve, Oxfordshire
RSPB Otmoor is a wetland reserve a couple of miles from Oxford. The area, originally marshland, was drained and used for arable farming until the 1990s. Since 1997 the RSPB have been returning the farmland to reedbeds and wet meadows. This has involved the planting of over 150,000 reed seedlings by hand!

Walking in the Peak District
It’s not often that I get time to myself away from the family, but when I do I like to head for the hills. I love spending time outdoors, preferably somewhere with a fantastic view and not too much rain. Even better if there’s a tea room at the end of the days walking!
